As part of a John Muir Award the NAC Extended Outreach Group wanted to look at the industrial heritage and the wildlife habitats present at the village of Barrmill in North Ayrshire. Our first attempt was unsuccessful with gusts of wind making the kite umnanageable and the footage too shaky, however we persisted and the weather the next day was just perfect. The old railway can be seen that in its final days served the MOD base near Beith and the site of the old thread making factory is clearly seen with a few of the old buildings reused.

Hi Roger, another interesting application.
Have you tried walking forwards to slacken the line to produce a steady section of video? Did you consider flying the Standard Kit?

Hello John,
The kite actually did seem very stable for a change but we did try the walking forward technique near the end. We have had very changeable weather recently. The Standard Kit we have lined up for Stevenston Sand Dunes and Ardeer Park with fewer trees and power cables.
