Mucky Blu-tack
For those of you using the starter kit and don't want the blu tack pendulumn getting coverved in what ever it lands in - try wrapping it with cling film. It works for me!

I find the cross-bar very easy to drop. The answer is to pack it all away even if you are in a hurry, etc.

Roger - do you mean the picavet cross when referring to the 'cross-bar'??

Yes Jim. Not a criticism of course, just an observation.

No problem Roger, i did not read the message as a critisism. I would prefer that people did critisise so that we can try and make things right. Are you having any issues with the picavet cross? i.e. when bringing the kite down to retrieve the camera or taking the rig off from the kite line to put it away?

No problems at all. It is just that when working with a group of young people one can become easily distracted and twice now I have dropped the picavet cross and not noticed. Checking that everything is packed away properly is therefore a 'must do'.

i try and have a mental note as i put things away and always a quick scan of the ground around where you are packing away, just in case.

Are you sure that you are both talking about the same thing and not the spreader spar of the kite? A kite terminology link at the top of the page might be helpful.

Yes John - quite right. I was browsing your site and noted what a picavet cross actually is.
