Thanks Jim. I have been working my way though the photogrammetry tools as outlined by the arcland page on the subject. www.archaeolandscapes.eu/index.php/ro/colectare/fotografii-aeriene/218-photogrammetric-3d-restitution-of-surfaces-with-free-tools.htmlI have mixed this with use of Meslabs and Mudbox. One of the main things I am interested in is creating models from freeware, to see if groups can do this at a low cost. Google Sketch-Up is a good tool for creating simple models. The other things I am looking at is the ease of use, in relation to self teaching these programmes. I would be interested to chat about this further once I am settled in Glasgow and that I can follow this line of inquiry during my Masters. I have found the Photosynth Toolkit and Meslabs to be very good so far. Next to that Arc3d is good, but not reliable when processing large data.

Hi Gary. I have dabbled with Photosynth and find it ok for basic needs, but require other bolt on packages to make real use of the software. I like meshlab but is limited to what you can do with it i.e. if you want animation then have to export and import into another studio. I played with Arc3D in its early stages and did not like it. I will have to have another go in the future. So much to do, so little time....
